My bad eyesight. I read this first as
"even if the Americans are ruining an investigation at the same
time."
But, seriously. What exactly can come of a complaint like this one even if, as
it is said, in Europe they "protect companies"? I find it difficult to
imagine how it can even get off the ground.
I did see an article about this latest complaint in this morning's NYT. The
article was carefully devoid of substance and obviously was very carefully
written so as *not* to inform the reader -- what seems to me the usual stance of
the NYT when it comes to stories which involve Microsoft or some of the other
"usual suspects" behind this complaint. But even that
carefully-written story contained a quote from Joaquin Almunia, the
Commissioner, which the story loosely links to the ongoing flurry of complaints
about Google. Not specifically addressing this particular, recently filed
complaint, of course, he said, "It is obvious that not everybody has the
same merits. Antitrust decisions cannot eliminate those merits and put everyone
in the same position."
