Ericsson sues Micromax for patent infringement, ... - Crore / STET
Authored by: Anonymous on Tuesday, March 26 2013 @ 10:03 PM EDT

"Ericsson sues Micromax for patent infringement, claims about Rs 100 crore in damages"

NB - A   crore   is a South Asian unit that is equal to ten million (10**7). This makes the judgement being sought amount to one billion rupees (short scale) or one milliard rupees (long scale, obsolete).

*** STET ***

has sued homegrown handset major Micromax for patent infringement

Fiber cables made of air move data at 99.7 percent the speed of light
Authored by: JamesK on Wednesday, March 27 2013 @ 08:17 AM EDT
"The speed of light, about 300,000 km/s, is the speed light travels in a
vacuum. In a medium such as glass, it goes about 30 percent slower, a mere
200,000 km/s"

I wonder what applications they have in mind. Even at 200,000 km/s, you could
circle the earth five times in a second, comparable to copper (ignoring repeater
delays) and much faster than using satellites.

Appeals court questions public interest scope in Apple secrecy hearing
Authored by: Anonymous on Wednesday, March 27 2013 @ 11:52 AM EDT
you can put an end to SW patents easily:

patents are SUPPOSED to be public knowledge of you to recreate the invention.
make ALL patent suit records UNSEALABLE since they are supposed to be in the
public database anyhow.

the crApple WORM and similar SLEAZE will not bother bringing suit if they KNOW
everything from discovery WILL be public knowledge!

Authored by: Anonymous on Wednesday, March 27 2013 @ 03:34 PM EDT
From Electronic Design.com, via E-mail.
[This is evidence that all this lawsuit stuff is distracting Apple from the
mission of doing new, excellent, and stylish design for consumers --

Is Apple’s iPhone Losing Its Edge to Samsung Galaxy S4 and Others?

Louis E. Frenzel, Communications Editor

Samsung’s Galaxy S4 shows how far behind Apple is falling in the continuing
smart-phone battle. Rumors suggest the iPhone S5 will be available later this
year. But aside from incremental improvements, what will it offer?

Apple: $85 million error in court's damages
Authored by: DannyB on Wednesday, March 27 2013 @ 05:39 PM EDT
Apple alleges $85 million error in court's damages order regarding two Samsung
phones.

I won't provide an actual link because it is from FOSSPatents which has a, how
shall I put this, a track record all its own.
