But, Feedly is just a font end for Google Reader! When Google Reader goes away
_then_ what happens?
Test it. Just try using freedly without giving access
to your Google account, and you will find that you can't even create a Feedly
account if you use an active gmail account, because that account already exists
on Google. It just passes you off to Google to create an account! Epic Fail as a
resolution for Google Reader's end game demise. You will likely have to find
another solution when Reader goes away because this is just a parasite interface
on the back of Google's web infrastructure.
I like Google, I just find it
odd that more than half the "solutions" out there just use Google Reader behind
the curtain, so its hard to tell what will still work in six months. My current
"solution" is Firefox plugin "Brief" which uses a special bookmark folder for
rss feed links. Its got its problems but its better than any others I have tried
except for standalone apps that can't share rss feeds across multiple machines.
I synchronise bookmarks (xmarks), so at least I can see the same feeds from
every machine, only the feeds are not in sync as far as read/unread status. I'm
still looking for a better solution if anyone has an opinion, I'm all
ears.
