I know of at least one gaming site that has it's own ads mixed in and you
collect points for clicking on them. It gets players to keep reloading the page
to find the prizes and I suspect boosts their ad revenue. Too bad no one
actually looks at the non prize ads.

What would be the repercussion of devaluing online ads? Would they become more
spam like with only bottom feeders putting low cost ads up or would they make
them better so people would switch off the ad blockers? Would the sites that
need the ad revenue close or switch to pay sites. Maybe the sites would start
reviewing the ads they show rather than taking a random feed.
