That's a lot of trouble to go through for something that shouldn't have been
done in the first place.
Users have a right to know what's going on in their computers. RMS is extreme,
yes, but we need those guys (the Naders, Chomskys, Hoaglands, Moores,
Hightowers, etc.) to kick us in the pants now and then.
Complacency is the beginning of enslavement.

sudo apt-get remove unity-shopping-lens
or better yet,

Blocking Amazon IP addresses doesn't work unless you can block them at
Canonical's servers as the spying is routed through Canonical.
Just blocking Amazon won't be enough for long anyway - I've heard reports that
13.04 will include additional spying features but even if that isn't true they
are sure to head that way if they don't get enough negative publicity.
The solution then is to maximise the negative publicity they get fro this (so
