Authored by: Anonymous on Sunday, March 17 2013 @ 06:47 AM EDT
Declassified tapes of President Lyndon Johnson's telephone
calls provide a fresh insight into his world. Among the
revelations - he planned a dramatic entry into the 1968
Democratic Convention to re-join the presidential race

And he caught Richard Nixon sabotaging the Vietnam peace
talks... but said nothing.

Bradley Manning probably won't wear legirons,
your Constitution has a clause discouraging that.
Wikileaks however provided significant padding to

Calling All Citizen Scientists
Authored by: Anonymous on Sunday, March 17 2013 @ 07:20 PM EDT
Citizen science?

It's a growing movement that brings together professional scientists and regular people from around the globe. Together, they use their eyes, ears, smartphones and the Internet to expand scientific knowledge and give us all a better understanding of the world we live in.

Requesting the hive mind for advice:
Authored by: Anonymous on Monday, March 18 2013 @ 07:25 AM EDT
Ok, I'm asking everyone for advice on something, because I doubt I would be able
to find out enough on my own (and studies have shown that the fastest way to
find out about anything is to ask someone who you think should know, who to ask
about it)

I'm about to move house to Eastern Scotland.

I am rather addicted to internet access.
I care about things like privacy and standing by my principles, but it's looking
like compromise will be necessary.

I would appreciate advice about ISPs that would be able to fullfil the following
requirements:

1) Monthy line rental, no per-byte cost.
2) Good customer support for technically literate, non-idiots.
3) Policy of respecting their customers privacy.

I know that 1&3 tend to not go together, and am willing to sacrifice 3 in
choice of ISP, because I can set up Tor and other encryption if necessary, and I
do generally use all that bandwidth.
