Dairy farmer Richard Gibson frequently finds himself
complaining about the weather in England, the cost of animal
feed and the low price of the milk he sells, but he realised
his problems are minimal when he visited the Samburu farmers
of northern Kenya.
In the second episode of a BBC documentary series, Mr Gibson
discovered how the Samburu struggle to find water to give
their cattle and have to protect the herd from wild animals
as well as other tribes who are often heavily armed.
In this clip, the Yorkshire-born farmer brings out his
tablet computer and shows village elder Lemerigichen his
cows back home in Devon and the ultra-modern milking parlour
he uses to produce a million litres of milk a year.
Lemerigichen and the other farmers watch in amazement and
tell Mr Gibson how lucky he is not to have to fight off
lions and hyenas.
Watch Toughest Place To Be A....Farmer on Sunday, 17 March,
21:00 GMT, BBC Two and for seven days afterwards on the BBC
iPlayer.
