First, I don't hate Apple. I'm very sad to watch
what is happening. I own some of their products,
and they make beautiful products that are a joy
to use.
Second, if you go to Google and investigate, you
will find a lot of people saying what I said, because
it's true. It would be true, though, even if I was
the only one, because I used to love that company,
and admire them for their determination to make things
pretty, something I care about. But now, I won't buy
their products any more, because of the litigation and
the extreme positions Apple took. It's sad, but true.
And that decision will only change if I see Apple
change.
Third, keeping your old customers isn't the goal. Most
people won't change once they have a certain company's
products in the house. It's too much trouble. But that
doesn't mean they are not disturbed by Apple's
new brand. It takes time for brand damage to really
count. Look at Microsoft, how long it took for people
to decide they didn't want to deal with a company
that behaved as Microsoft did. After the US v. Microsoft
trial, nobody viewed Microsoft the same, and as soon
as there was a viable escape for people that wasn't
too much trouble, they jumped and they are not looking
back, as figures on current MS products demonstrate.
So brand damage isn't an overnight phenomenon. And
where it really shows is when it comes to getting new
customers.
Fourth, could you be a little less unpleasant, please?
I get tired of false accusations. Try to view others
in less black and white terms.

It might not be exactly what you are looking for but take a
look: http://bgr.com/2012/10/03/samsung-galaxy-s-iii-sales-
increase-after-apple-trial/
Also, add me in as a collateral damage to apple's trial, I use
to like apple's product until this litigation war started to
gain traction.[ Reply to This | Parent | # ]

step 1: open web browser of choice (preferably chrome)
step 2: navigate to www.google.com
step 3: search for "APPL"
step 4: click on the 6m button to expand the stock price
window to last year
step 5: review results
step 6: wonder to self what other possible explanation there
could be for why apple's stock price has dropped 35-40% in 6
months

Maybe I'm not a typical user, but I am a data point. I use Linux at home, Linux
and Solaris at work. I like to compile my software on a few different platforms
if I can, and I have variously used BeOS, Cygwin and NetBSD for this purpose.
A couple of years ago I was thinking of trying an Apple machine, since it would
suit my purposes and be useful for the rest of the family.
Not any more.
Cheers
Tom
