Which Motorola?
Authored by: TomWiles on Friday, March 22 2013 @ 02:29 PM EDT
I actually had access to and ran a machine that ran on the Zilog Z800 processor.
It was a bridge processor between the Z80 and the Z8000.

Jerry Pournelle agrees with you. He wrote a column for Byte magazine evaluating
the 8086, 68000, and Z8000. His strong preference was the Zilog chip.

As was mentioned in an earlier thread, IBM wanted a less competitive chip on the
desktop and may have been a major player in the destruction of Zilog and their
processor line.

What about the 32032?

I never heard much about this chip, but I gather it was another clean 32-bit
design, from NatSemi.

Cheers,
Wol

I used to read all the reviews back in the microprocessor
wars and dream about being able to afford ANY computer. Then
I would go back to the HP-3000 terminal and get back to work.

This thread brings back some great memories.
