Please, please Acer if you are reading this blog - put (mainstream) Linux on this laptop!

I have (Chr)Ubuntu on my Acer C7 (upgraded to 8GB RAM and a 240GB SSD) and it is a DREAM Linux Netbook - and would still have been fantastic and usable with the original 2GB RAM and 320GB hard disk. Make it 4GB out-of-the-box and it is a fantastic little machine. If it was up to me I would say swap the 320GB hard disk for a 60GB or 128GB SSD as well.

If this laptop (which has the open source CoreBoot BIOS on it) ran a mainstream distro like Ubuntu, Linux Mint or Mageia it would be truly awesome! Imagine cold ON to Linux desktop in about 15 seconds. On my Acer C7, I am up and running in Ubuntu with WiFi connected (from CTRL-D in BIOS) in 15 seconds (just timed it) but my OCZ SSD makes all the difference. Cold to BIOS is about 2 seconds.

If ONLY I could get a 'blessed' kernel working so that I could get NATIVE (non-developer mode) booting on the Acer C7!

Support Software Freedom - use GPL licenced software like Linux and LibreOffice instead of proprietary software like Microsoft Windows/Office or Apple OS/X
