Even easier - don't sign up!
Although, I gather (a) they track EVERYONE, and (b) the only way to disable
tracking is to create an account and turn it off.
I don't THINK that's yet come up in front of the EU privacy commissioners, but I
can't see it surviving the resulting grapeshot charge at close range ...

that is what I referred to.
I thought it was solved by not getting a like button without connecting to any
facebook site. (as per webmaster setup)
Only upon clicking such a button would inform fb.
But now when I visid some sites I get a warning about slow or unresponsive
script along the lines (example):

src="//connect.facebook.net/en_US/all.js"></script>
which looks like an unwanted connection is made anyway to fb,
possible reveiling ip address.

Not sure how much this helps,
but many of us have "anonymous" FB accounts
to participate in various promotions (ala
collecting airmiles for 'liking' something),
or to preserve an identity not as snoopable by
corporations or future employers,
in addition to the regular personal "truth" account ...
I'm even a bit braver for the following purpose --
giving away access to this pseudo-anonymous account
to allow people who are non-FB-participators to
see my blog-like stuff (I dislike sending duplicates
of pictures etc. which they can just see it on FB)
[I certainly understand why someone may not want
to actually sign up to FB giving away their own info
to see a real-life friend's doings.]
This is done by having my "true self" be the only
(unadvertised) friend of the nom de plume.
Of course everything can be correlated by the sharpies,
especially those at FB. Not only that, I guess in
my personal life I'm an open book mostly posting
to friends-of-friends, but I tend to be more
closed for issues of finance and mercenary
commercial interests.
