Some people just want to stay with what they are used to seeing every day, so I
have no doubt that customers might want to purchase add-ons that give them what
they have come to expect in Windows' performance. When you were looking at
a-la-cart extras, was there an Ubuntu Virus-Magnet edition to give the lack of
security so characteristic of Windows? Given the programmer-hours that would be
needed to have Linux (or almost any other OS) have the same virus susceptibility
of Windows, that would be a fairly pricey add-on. For the more
economically-conscious, I'm sure that a BSOD Anti-Reliability application would
be far less expensive. This app would randomly flash a BSOD (maybe with
'SUCKER' in big, flashing letters) as the computer is frozen to force a hard
reboot.
I dunno that I would be willing to spend the money needed to give the same
performance that I have come to expect from Windows. Then again, that is why I
use Linux; I don't have to spend so much of my free time keeping my computer
running, chasing drivers, etc. I guess I am just cheap.[ Reply to This | Parent | # ]
