Why would you need to do that? Unless you are getting your dog
to put the discs in the machine... An original factory DVD will
likely last far longer in proper storage than any consumer copy.
I think they meant format shift, which is what I already do with
every DVD I get so I can watch on my iPod, laptop, whatever.

Why The Unlocking Phones Debate Is Important
This debate in
Geekdom is all very well with us blogistanis nodding sagely. What concerns me is
how to
make J Random Device-Purchaser aware that the lockin occurs before
purchase. Or whether he even
cares that the political and philosophical
decisions resulting in lockin are made before the device goes
onto the drawing
board. It's a new industry with a wild west winner take all attitude. I think
there's a car
analogy somewhere in there too. How long did it take before cars
could run on any brand tires or
gasoline? And how many users today still take
their car into the dealer they bought it from for servicing
with his choice of
