I wish I knew of some examples...
"For the love of money is a root of all sorts of injurious things, and by
reaching out for this love some have been led astray from the faith and have
stabbed themselves all over with many pains." - 1 Timothy 6:10 (I'm sure
this concept predates Jesus. Greed came first, then money.)
The key point is: '...some have been led astray from the faith...'
Money seekers will tend to abandon whatever good principles they started with.
Is it possible to become rich and be a moral person? Yes, but the system is
really designed to be run by amoral, unethical persons.
Socrates said "The unexamined life is not worth living." A sociopath
(formally 'psychopath') lacks the ability to 'examine his life', or any life,
because he has no moral compass. Religion used to provide such guidance, but we
have abandoned religion without providing a substitute.
Greed is easy, generosity is difficult.
"... And so ends my catechism."
