Lucky you.
I've had to recompile mine to get a functional thinkpad_acpi module, to get my
wireless card working, and to get linux-phc undervolting to work.

The last time I had to compile a kernel was when I built a LFS system, but that
was the point. VMPlayer requires you compile the modules to sidestep the GPL,
I think Nvidia did the same when I last tried one of their modules. [ Reply to This | Parent | # ]

I recompiled my latest kernel yesterday ...
But then, I do run gentoo, I have to recompile everything :-)
Each to their own :-)
Cheers,

Been using Linux since 1999, and always roll my own kernel. Build in everything
I need, remove everything I don't. Lean and fast.
Recompiling isn't a problem, its a feature.[ Reply to This | Parent | # ]
