It sounds promising, to me.
I am not a Unity fan. However, from the description, this is a replacement for
XOpen and it would be more efficient for all window managers. Lightweight
window managers would be able to get fancier results without impinging on
performance and the bells and whistles on the power window managers would not
come at such a high performance cost.
It would make mixing and matching Androidy like stuff with desktoppy and
touchpaddy like stuff, much easier if they used the same platform.
That appeals to folk like me who want it all, whenever they want it, but don't
want to pay the performance price.

What License are they using? GPL is not even mentioned at
all. There is some mumbling on that page about
compatibility with closed source drivers... so, what does
that mean about license?
If not GPL, then folks should really think twice about even
going there (any comments)?
Or, did I miss their special licensing section on the web
page, or not?

Try another form.. and with the same limitations...
And it won't work either.
X isn't perfect, but if they were to try to do it right they should first start
with the X11 network protocol, and clean it up.
Provide a better X server plugin protocol.
Personally, I was hoping for a X12 by this time, with a compatibility plugin
