Yahoo message boards to shut
down 3/31
Yahoo also said that on April 1 it will stop
supporting Yahoo Avatars - the cartoon-like digital characters that
consumers create to depict them on Web services such as Yahoo instant messenger
and Facebook. Consumers who want to continue using their avatar on Yahoo's
online services must download the avatar and then re-upload the information to
their personalized Yahoo profile.
The other Yahoo products set to be
terminated include Yahoo App Search, Yahoo Sports IQ, Yahoo Clues, the :Yahoo
Message Boards website and the Yahoo Updates API.
It is with
great sadness that I have to relay the deeply disheartening news that not only
will Groklaw outlive the much loved SCO, but it will also outlive that deeply
moving, highly inspirational and informative source of light and wisdom known as
the Y! SCOX message board. While the Y! SCOX board can rest in eternal {peace |
something else} the award winning Groklaw will continue living on and be
archived in the Library of Congress.

For the first year, we lived together. Being just roommates lasted
less than a month, and we entered a powerful and sometimes difficult
relationship which we decided would only last a year.
We spent the next
three years trying and failing to cleanly end our romance. He was an incredibly
secretive person, private about our life together, his thoughts, and the events
of his life. I was a nosy reporter, always trying to get things out of him. He
would never tell me how much he was paid in the Reddit sale, and his reticence
came a running joke between us: me prying, cajoling, pressuring, and Aaron,
never giving in.
On January 6, 2011, I got a call on my mobile phone from a
number I didn't recognize. Usually I don't answer unknown numbers. This time I
did. I heard Aaron's voice: scratchy, distant, nearly inaudible. He'd been
arrested. I didn't ask him what happened. I only asked him what he wanted me to
do.
He needed bail.

and beloved. But the people who knew him best saw a darker side.

"In an unexpected and rather desperate move, in the midst of growing public’s
and judges’ impatience regarding Prenda’s conduct, this “law firm” has commenced
three libel lawsuits designed to chill free speech by burying its critics in
massive legal fees."
"Initially those lawsuits have been filed
in state courts so loved by Prenda (St. Clair County IL, Cook County IL, and
Miami-Dade FL), but were promptly removed to the federal level by the defense
lawyers." link
