Something to think about when you are ready to spend some
time on it again...
Based on your earlier comments it sounded like your problem
is happening in the fedora installer when it is trying to
read and process your current partitions. If as you
mentioned you are willing to start from scratch, the easiest
way to avoid the problem is to wipe the partition table
before running the installer. This way it just avoids the
issue altogether.
Whether or not you choose to use lvm is your decision and
doesn't really affect this workaround. I would recommend
researching this so you can make an informed decision.
Linux is certainly all about choice and everyone has their
