Actually, ... "info and understanding"
Authored by: Anonymous on Saturday, March 02 2013 @ 09:42 AM EST
Yes!!! Unfortunately, I do not believe that providing "information" and "understanding" is what certain other bloggers are motivated by and if we have to read them (and this is unavoidable because of churnalism), we and others should understand the accuracy, realities and motivation behind their type of "information" and "understanding". This is a different form of 'bias' from Groklaw.

To remind you of arguments about dubious activities, if you haven't visited a more 'activist' FOSS-biased site recently you might want to have a look at:
Speak Out: Did Microsoft Florian — Funded Also by Apple — ‘Spam’ You Too? More Funding Appears to Come From Anti-Android/Linux Camp. | Techrights
and the older:
How Microsoft Florian ‘Cooks’ Spin | Techrights

Astroturfing, aided by it's accomplice - churnalism, is technically against the law in the EU:
EU cracks down on fake blogger astroturfing • The Register was the hope! In practice, we need to use test cases and precedent to expose - EU Commission Justice Website - "Unfair commercial practices" under what is, in reality, a general anti-abuse law:
Unfair commercial practices - Justice

(The one thing I must praise the FOSS Patents Blog for, is the amazing output that is sustained in a field that spans two technical fields in which the author has no formal qualifications(?) - as far as I can tell [Wikipedia has hidden the relevance of high school-only qualifications, academic snobbery and all that!]. pj will appreciate this more than me - and be able to comment, though she may not feel that to be wise. He increased from 106 in 2010 to 335 in 2011 to 628 last year using the numbers on the site. As far as I can tell (without looking at them all - search for "guest" did not produce any 'guest articles' like Groklaw occasionally invites - these are all self-attributed - in spite of(?) all his paid consulting and advisory roles! It's almost as though he gets help with some of this extraordinary investigative activity, analysis and text production. Maybe someone could put this stuff through an 'author' algorithm? If it is all down to FM - then 'praise be to quantity over quality'!
