Please note that the Inquirer article is dated Tue Aug 05 2008, 13:10. Not that
there's anything wrong with that. Just be aware of it.
And that annual report is dated: For The Fiscal Year Ended June 30, 2008

In an SEC filing several years ago, Microsoft specifically mentioned
OpenOffice.org as a direct competitor. That same filing implied, but did not
specifically state that Linux was also a direct competitor.

It changes in detail from year to year, for example the current version
mentions Android a lot. But it is always there. It has to be legally, even if
there is relatively little chance that something like Minix could take
significant market share from Microsoft.
