Hey, this is more than a family blog

Personally, I wouldn't adjust my language at all in front of PJs[sic] grandmother,
This is why you might wind up being persona non grata in polite company. In any case, what I recalled for you was PJ's expressed wish that Groklaw, and its contributors, be of a quality of which PJ would have pride in showing to her grandmother. That includes language and quality of contributions (information quality as well as presentation quality). PJ's respect for her grandmother speaks to PJ's state of mind, not to her grandmother's, anyway, so you show a lack of comprehension by your statement.
Why we think the elderly have forgotten their youth I will never understand.
I haven't forgotten my youth, and the respect I showed for those who gave me so much (whether I now think or then thought the gifts appropriate). Yes, as a septuagenerian, I would qualify as 'elderly', thank you. I find a quality presentation of accurate information to be the sine qua non of effective communication: I try (but, alas, sometimes fail) to deliver this, as I have done since childhood. I see most of the real contributors doing the same.

For myself, I find immaturity of expression, especially in an unsigned comment, to be a sign of immaturity of thought: these are reasons not to bother giving any credence to the content. If you haven't given thought to your presentation and your language, how can we conjecture that you have given thought to your content? A person who disrespects himself and his audience by such immaturity cannot claim or expect any respect in return.
