I am enjoying my Asus Transformer Infinity with keypad/extra battery. Excellent
battery life, outdoor readability, superb screen, brilliant movie playing
although I rip my DVD's using a laptop using Handbrake. Built-in speakers a bit
weak, but excellent using a Jabra Halo bluetooth headset.
I just finished proof reading an ePub novel for a friend, using Moon+ Reader Pro
and a writer/spreadsheet/presentation package called Kingsoft Office, I just cut
and pasted and highlighted erroneous text, before emailing resultant text file
to said friend.
Haven't put a linux distro on it yet since I dislike Canonical's approach to
user interface. Dedicated Debian and kde3 user here, although I started with
redhat and through Suse until OpenSuse 10.3, tried Kubuntu 7.04 but it wouldn't
place nice with my Acer Ferrari lappy.
Only possible drawback, especially here in the UK, is that it is wifi only, but
I have a mobile data (wifi hotspot) with self-contained battery dongle for use
in the car on a pay as you go basis (top-up with 10GB) as and when needed.
Respond if your would like further specifics. I would mention that I enjoy
Terminal Emulator and Hacker's Keyboard which gives one a full Laptop typing
experience Ctrl Alt and function keys when used as a standalone tablet.
Well worth a look. Mine has a 64GB sdcard internally, a 32GB micro sdhc card
popped into the tablet, and a 32GB sdcard (fullsize) in the keyboard. The USB
port is useful for transferring files to and from my various PCs, and I added a
HDMI to DVI converter to my 21inch 1600x1200 lcd monitor - great for watching
movies, since I have no TV, but I do have the BBC iPlayer app.

My wife took one look at the Nexus 7 and said "I want". We paid launch
price for the 16Gb (you can get a 32Gb for the money now).
She took it to Switzerland with the Guides. And she uses it all the time now for
email and web. Our home system runs a mail server, and I've pointed the email
app at that so she can look at our local system. I'm still learning all the
tricks it can do.
Find it in the local shop, and let her take a look ...
One word of advice - and I gather this affects a lot of tablets (all makes).
Ours died with a flat battery and wouldn't restart. Something to do with the
battery protection circuitry - it got stuck in "trickle charge" mode.
Google for detailed instructions, but basically you need to charge it for a
couple of hours, then take it off charge and hold the power button down for 30
secs or so. That triggers a "hard reset" and it was fine again.
Cheers,
