If the BSA was really just about protecting copyrights/licenses and making sure
that businesses comply then they would (of course) suggest that open source
software is another (completely legal) option rather than purchasing expensive
proprietary software. They don't (of course) as they are simply a government
endorsed lapdog of large proprietary software companies. What they do is to smear
governments when they try and break away from proprietary software, and bully existing proprietary software users even when they are
trying to comply.
They also do everything they can to dissuade people from having software that
will interoperate (and hence have choice). Luckily their tactics seem to be having the opposite effect.
All of my computers run open source
software. I am pleased to be able to be able to frustrate you, BSA, and would
encourage others to do the same.
--- Support Software Freedom - use
GPL licenced software like Linux and LibreOffice instead of proprietary software
