It seems one way to get around the courts page count limits is to coordinate a
whole bunch of people expanding on your primary points.

It should be illegal right from the start.
It's fine to compete in the market. It's fine to try and tie up your own
distribution channel (after all, what's stopping you buying or creating one),
etc etc.
What should be illegal period is doing things for which the obvious intent is to
hurt a competitor. Like trying to come to an exclusive distribution deal with a
competitor's main distributor, for example.
I know it can be hard to call, but I'm afraid I have no qualms about making
"negative competition" (ie damaging a competitor) illegal. If you
can't win by positive competition - better products etc - then you shouldn't be
allowed to compete in other ways instead.
