It's also an excellent way to kill off a language and
ecosystem.

BSA? Really?

The BSA has never cared about software developers. All it has ever cared about, us producing enough money for Microsoft. Other software houses are a mere afterthought, to be satisfied only after the target numbers for Microsoft have been reached.

IOW, I see this as further evidence of collusion between Microsoft, Oracle, and Apple in eliminating competitors --- especially competitors whose product is FLOSS based.

They should be careful what they wish for

Just suppose that they prevail. Now, let's assume that they've copied some APIs
from GPLed code in order to create some 'proprietary' product. Could the open
source community then sue them in order to compel them to make the whole thing
open source due to the fact they've violated the GPL by using the API? Very
interesting, if possible. Maybe it's time to start looking at all the APIs
they're using to see what's possible. On a related note, maybe they'll all start
suing each other into oblivion due to the fact they're probably all using each
others APIs in some of their products anyways. We can always hope.
