Farmers lead to slaughter
Authored by: Anonymous on Monday, February 18 2013 @ 05:21 AM EST
Here in the EU, the vast majority of farmers are subsidised by the various
governments, under EU control. The reason is said to be to "level the
playing field" so all countries can afford to keep farming and not become
dependant on cheap food imported from other EU countries, or from elsewhere.
The main effect is that governments - like supermarkets - have enormous control
over farmers, while we peasants have to pay even for the food we don't eat.

Most of said peasants seem happy to buy "cheap" food while forgetting
that they've already paid part of the price, and governments of all colours seem
to see farming as a large and unwelcome expense. The effect on farmers is just
what you'd expect.
