David Koch, through his foundation, provides funding for
Nova, the PBS series.
Last night I watched an episode that used information from
earth satellites to provide pictures of the planet. There
was a long segment devoted to Antarctica and the vital role
it plays in maintaining the stability of ocean temperatures.
Nova showed lots of images derived from visible light,
microwave radiation, infrared and ultraviolet. LOTS of
images.
Through all that imagery and narrative, there was not a
single mention of shrinking ice shelves in Antarctica. In
fact, one of the scientists went so far as to say that
Antarctica would continue to be the planet's icebox "twenty
years into the future."
No mention of increasing ocean temperatures.
No mention of the increasing violence of North American
weather.[ Reply to This | Parent | # ]

We also need to teach people to _think for themselves_. Too many folks pay way
too much attention to the media. This mass spoon feeding is the problem that's
preventing us from solving the _real_ problems we have. The solutions to ALL of
those problems are known, but not implemented, because they don't coincide with
a culture of greedy, money-worshiping parasites. I well know those people.
Personally. It's a culture of entitlement, of 'we are better than they are, so
we deserve our wealth'. It's a morally shallow culture, because they can never
explain why they are better, or why they are entitled.
