Basically, it was just too difficult to design it properly, so they bodged it
with lots of glue. We should not be surprised, as it is only the hardware
equivalent of how they have been developing software since the very beginning,
when the Dangerous Incompetent was writing code.

Has anyone here read "Obelisk & Co."?

Sound like MS is trying to avoid the problem of selling new stuff to existing
users by making their old stuff even more fragile.

I remember when I bought something and expected it to last 25 years...
