Groklaw still makes my day !

Ann Droid... Seriously, USA justice is SO fun to watch from
the other side of the pond, with a bucket of popcorn... I
would be appalled to be subject to it though.

By the way, should Ann Droid do a parody of Harry Potter,
let's say Barry Trotter, using the same chapter names and
all, wouldn't that be covered by Fair Use, assuming that
chapter names are copyrightable?

Yes, hard to see any judge falling for that. Google can just say what happened is more like Ann Droid sitting down to write a story about a boy with magical abilities, which is a theme in several books and will be again. For example: the first book in Ursula le Guin's Earthsea trilogy - the hero, Sparrowhawk, is even sent to a school for wizards after his magical abilities are discovered, what plagiarism - oh wait, Earthsea was published decades before Harry Potter... (I also think it is the better book series of the two).

Groklaw always makes my day - thank you so much - PJ, MW and other maintainers

Just to say thanks again to PJ, MW, Mathfox and all the others who keep Groklaw
running. This site is SO important in picking apart <Proprietary Software
Company> vs "Open Source" legal arguments.

It has been a very long hard fight but open source software is SLOWLY winning
the battle. Most people are unaware of the titanic struggle which is still
going on (e.g. UEFI being used to lock out Linux on 'generic' PCs) and which is
covered in fantastic detail on this site. I have introduced lots of people to
this site and many are appalled when they realize what some of the 'Big Names'
of the software industry have been up to.

Thank you SO MUCH for everything! You ARE appreciated :)

Support Software Freedom - use GPL licenced software like Linux and LibreOffice
instead of proprietary software like Microsoft Windows/Office or Apple OS/X

I almost wonder if it's an ayn rand reference
Authored by: designerfx on Wednesday, February 13 2013 @ 07:57 AM EST
Even though they're trying to imply android, I wonder if this
some kind of silly Ayn Rand implied reference as well. I mean
that would fit Oracle - believing a false premise that was
created by an author.

(for those who don't know, Ayn Rand is as much of an insult to
intellect and facts as anything Oracle is doing. Many
psychologists spend lots of time debunking the Ayn Rand
fallacies).

If Oracle wanted to use a book analogy they should have
chosen a dictionary. e.g.

Google copied some of the entries but changed the definitions
and added more entries!

Give us lots of money WAH!
etc
At least a dictionary is closer to code than a novel is!
