"Appalled" applies to ALL countries where proprietary companies get unfair advantages!

The comments were not meant (in any way) to be anti-USA. Far from it.

The UK (for instance) has its own examples of attacking (or just plain blocking)
open source usage - one of the worst cases being in schools. I have been trying
(for years) to get local schools to use open source software and I run into the
'procurement' monopoly which means (in effect) that they just renew with
Microsoft and do not consider any other alternatives.

The same types of problems also apply to other countries in the EU although some
are better than others (Spain, for example, has rolled out a Debian derived
distribution across all of its schools and local government in Andalusia).

I have introduced friends across the world to Groklaw - in the UK, USA, Spain
and a number of other countries and all have been appalled by the shenanigans of
proprietary software (from whatever country) vs open source. Yes many of these
companies are from the USA but not all of them.

---
Support Software Freedom - use GPL licenced software like Linux and LibreOffice
instead of proprietary software like Microsoft Windows/Office or Apple OS/X
