30 crimes a day?
Authored by: Anonymous on Monday, February 11 2013 @ 12:42 PM EST
Well, I'm not an expert, but we can start with simple stuff like the CFAA/DMCA
making almost anything to do with a computer over the internet illegal, get some
overzealous cop to pull him over and feel he has to cite him for something, pull
"conspiricy with self" similar to A.S's case to multiply the
conviction numbers, accuse his car of intending to be used to transport drug
money... And that's before we start pulling out "terrorism" charges
or looking for porn on his hdd/hitting him with a virus that puts illegal stuff
on his hdd.

Might not get to 30 without knowing the local laws better, but that's a decent
start.

There was a Newspick here, topical to the story of the day, about
five years ago. Some law professor had kept a meticulous diary,
IIRC the tally was 29 distinct laws broken in one day, yes, speeding,
playing a cassette tape in the car, a) copied from a CD,
b) with the window open in a parking lot, and a bunch of
"mattress tag" type transgressions. Sorry my Google-fu
isn't turning up the original story...

I doubt there are 30, and I'm not American, laws differ, but let's try ...

Starting off with listening to music on a computer (illegal copy in the
computer's memory) kitchen window open so someone not in the family hears it.
Then driving the car out of the garage across the pavement (footpath) to get to
the road, talking on the phone while driving, either speeding or obstruction,
almost have to do one or the other, maybe getting cross with another driver and
using obscene language, possibly threatening behaviour. Parks his car, it's a
residents only bay but they don't check in the morning, drops his cigarette end
on the street after he finishes smoking it, he didn't put it out as he dashed
through the subway of course. Then maybe he gets to the office where he
overhears some news about a quoted company that may affect its stock price,

You get the picture I'm sure I could go on through the day.
