Apple sued by David Einhorn over cash pile
Authored by: Anonymous on Friday, February 08 2013 @ 02:24 PM EST
The Newspick has a more detailed look at Apple's numbers. Sure, Reggie's a stock pimp. He understands why Apple has a pile of cash, and he seems to understand what they should do with it. He hasn't IMO grokked the consumer tech market.
Apple has some serious steps to take if it is to get back into the mobile computing race.
[and]
Apple is about to go through a depression style bout of margin compression that it will need cash to battle.
The second point we've seen already. But does Apple want to "get back into" the mobile computing race? Apple's big strength has been taking inventions lying around idle and making some cool new stuff out of it nobody else thought of. They cash in on the goldrush, then fade into the background. While competitors commoditize and gut the market Apple uses its cash to build the Next Big Thing. Rinse and repeat.

All these lawsuits? I don't blame Apple, I blame the rotten system that allows them to do it. If we didn't have software patents, and design patents, on the obvious and non-novel, then life would be a lot happier for all of us.

Re: M$ & AppĀ£e

Sir,
Go home! Leave Ballmer and Cook alone. Let them continue to do what they do
best: non-management of non-tech companies. Go buy Proctor & Gamble
instead.
