Okay, if you order over a web-site you might not be covered, but if I'm in that
situation, I find the items on the website, and then order by phone or email.

If I say I want the items to work together, then that forms part of the contract
which the shop accepts by sending me the goods. If they then don't fit, the shop
has to take them back.

I had almost this very scenario happen to me. You can tell it's ages ago because
I ordered some mobos and associated Pentium 150MHz chips. For some reason, I
ended up with 166MHz chips (the 150s were sold out, maybe). The chips and mobos
were incompatible, despite both being the same socket - something to do with bus
frequency.

So back the mobos went to be replaced - the shop didn't have any choice. It's
very odd to have any trouble over here unless - like Apple! - a US head office
tries to impose an illegal policy on its European subsidiaries.

Cheers,
Wol
