The changing adware landscape

I remember an old proverb: All software will expand it's capabilities untill it
can read email.

I suppose the new one is: All internet-enabled software will eventually try to
include advert revenue.

And the counter to both of these is a a Knuth (I believe) quote: Software has
reached perfection, not when there is nothing left to add, but when there is
nothing left to remove.

I'd also recommend reading TaoUP for more of this stuff.

Should I be saying something about kids these days, or "get off my
lawn"?

Yes, I know it may not be possible. But if it is, it's the best security
solution
available.
