I'm not sure he wants to be a philanthropist. I've only one close experience of
a donation from their trust and basically, should the recipient of his
benevolence continue on the windows upgrade path (without buying new machines)
they would have been 'paying' MS for their 'gift' within 10 years.[ Reply to This | Parent | # ]

To be the best philanthropist he needs to give away a reasonable proportion of
his income each year, it is perfectly possible to live a life of considerable
comfort on a salary of $150,000, let him do that and give all the rest away.
GIVE it away, don't make conditional grants, that's not philanthropy, that's
marketing.
