But you can't make it drink.

I had a similar situation at church, when we were talking about computers, and
somebody said "but you can teach them how to use the computer". My
reaction was that "I love computers, but you're wasting your time and mine
teaching me how to use a phone system. I don't *want* to know, and will learn
the absolute minimum I need to do my job". I just DO NOT like using a
phone!

One of the most important things about teaching people is do they *want* to
learn. Without that, you're wasting your time. And in that church situation, I
said I would be only too happy to teach people who wanted to learn, but I was
not going to waste my time (and theirs) teaching people who didn't - those
managing the volunteers take note!
