Microsoft publishes list of its entire patent portfolio
Authored by: Anonymous on Thursday, March 28 2013 @ 11:09 PM EDT
But going through each patent on Google, one can see tne prior art.

Alternatively, a company with a programmer/mathematician to spare, can
rewrite the patent in of those obscure mathematical logic lnguges, and thu
prove that it is a 'simple' mathematecical algorithm. I've firgeten the nam of

that brach of math.. :(

The dawning?

This could be seen as Microsoft round-about'ishly recognizing that patent
litigation is a double-edged sword.
Analogous to Tim Cook at Apple expressing doubt on the profitability of the
litigation strategy inherited from Jobs.

While there is historical precedent for ascribing Microsoft's move to it's usual
gluttonous urges, the Microsoft of today is a slowly sinking vessel adrift in a
market it doesn't understand. Maybe they're trying to plug a leak to prolong the
inevitable.
Hope is usually the penultimate thing you lose.

Microsoft publishes list of its entire patent portfolio

Notice the coincidental article on Mr. Mueller's blog on how Google doesn't
publish their list of patents. You'd think he got paid for that or something.

Diverting attention from what?

Not a good idea
Authored by: Wol on Friday, March 29 2013 @ 08:59 AM EDT
When attacking Open Source.

If I had an Open Source company and they went after me, I'd counter-sue for a
declaration I didn't infringe any of their patents.

And then wait for the FLOSS crowd to destroy any patent MS tried to deploy.

So no, I don't think that figure is intimidating to us. It might frighten the
PHB's, though :-(

Cheers,
Wol

Microsoft publishes list of its entire patent portfolio - so what
Authored by: Anonymous on Friday, March 29 2013 @ 11:09 AM EDT
I do not see that Microsoft publishing its patent portfolio as a searchable
database is a newsworthy event. The Patent Office already has all its patents
searchable online. I found all the patents for a particular inventor going back
60 years. On another occasion I found all the patents that were assigned to
Intellectual Ventures in what was the current year. I reported the results of
that search on Groklaw.

I wonder if they are using the IP logs from the site to compile a list of
companies subject to tripled damages ...
