Being Google
Authored by: complex_number on Monday, April 01 2013 @ 07:33 AM EDT
I won't use Google+ although I have a GMail Id because I needed to activate my
Android phone.

I like my privacy. I have a fairly common name but if you search on Google &
Bing you won't find any reference to me at all.
Why?

I don't want the Feds/MI6/MI5 etc etc tracking me easily. I post in some
alternative forums (no, not Porn) and the last thing I want is for those posts
to be connected to say those I make on Groklaw. IMHO, far too many people are
far too lax about their internet identities.
I fully expect that it won't be very long (if it hasn't happened already) where
your entire internet browsing and posting history would be used in court as
evidence against you even if said posts etc have nothing to do with the crime
for which you are charged. Even the most innocent posts can be taken out of
context all too easily.
Suddenly your 1-5 year sentence gets multiplied into 150+ years with no parole.
You are clearly a danger to society...

Ubuntu & 'apt-get' are not the answer to Life, The Universe & Everything which
is of course, "42" or is it 1.618?
