"to decide HOW to round that number" - ah but....
Authored by: Anonymous on Monday, April 01 2013 @ 12:14 PM EDT

... as the Patent Attorney's are wont to say:

One does not require to define every little detail - when a particular step is common knowledge, it does not have to be defined
Isn't it ironic how common the knowledge is on rounding in that every school kid in grade 5(?) knows what it is - yet the USPTO doesn't recognize it for math.

Kinda makes you wonder what kind of education on simple things like basic math appear to be lacking from the knowledge base of some Patent Lawyers and those writing the rules guiding what the USPTO patent examiners can do.

Of course, I'm giving said Patent Lawyers the benefit of doubt of lacking a basic math education. It's certainly worse for said Patent Lawyers to know what math is, know the Supreme's have been quite clear on the patentability of math, yet they still proceed to deliberately obfuscate the wording of math till they get the patent granted.
