Another way to think about this 'study'...

Microsoft is essentially saying that XP is all you need and
it is a waste of money to invest in VISTA, Win7, Win8 or any Microsoft product.

But we already knew that.

And whatever gives you that impression?
Every company that has no direct interest in MS would gladly move to another
more cost effective computing solution. Its only MS efforts to ensure that it
does NOT allow them to move cleanly that keeps them happy.
Have you seem how much money you can save moving from MS if you don't have any
legacy (IE6 etc) apps to support? And have you seen how much support for your
legacy apps costs?
That's why they suppressed the report and why most contracts with MS are hidden
from public view - you'd be sued by your shareholders for not moving if you
knew!
