I was hoping someone would step in and help him. Quite frankly, he was
treated really badly.

patented algorithms
Authored by: Anonymous on Tuesday, January 22 2013 @ 08:17 PM EST
I was reading about a a real time ray tracing card and the article stated:
The cutting edge secret sauce of the R2500 isn't in its raw power, then, but the patented algorithms that Imagination and Caustic are using to solve the real-time ray tracing problem.
Is it just me, or is stating "patented algorithm" an oximoron as algorithms are deemed un-patentable by SCOTUS if i'm correct? algorithm can be patented?

Steve Jobs threatened patent suit to enforce no-hire policy: filing

Chalk up one more reason not to work for Apple:

You can't be sure to get treated fairly when negotiating for your Salary!
Especially since they're trying to force other companies to agree to artificially decreasing the salaries via threats of patent Lawsuits.

Sad: not content with just setting their own internal policies of renumeration, they're trying to set the entire market to limit the negotiation strength of their employees.

If I was currently an Apple employee I'd be taking a real good hard look at my current renumeration package and what other competitors offer. And if I'm significantly below the reasonable average, I'd be looking immediately for new employment.
