That's exactly why you don't want to use the BSD
license, despite how much corporate entities like
Microsoft love it, unless you want corporate
entities to take your code, add a bit, and thne
close it all off in proprietary restrictions.
And now you know why the FOSS community usually
prefers the GPL. It protected Linux from the
rapacity of SCO Group and its backer Microsoft.

Software never exists in physical form - therefore it's an abstract
concept.
By allowing patents on software, the Law is allowing patents on
abstract concepts which the Supreme's say is not patentable subject
matter!
A mess in the Law of the Law created by the Legal
practitioners.
