The penalty of Society vs the penalty of Law
Authored by: Anonymous on Friday, January 18 2013 @ 06:53 PM EST

The immediate punishment isn't the only harm

For example, your mother catches you lying to person X. Your mother grounds you for a week. Additionally, person X has learned you have a predilection toward lying and chooses not to trust what you say in the future.

As the saying goes:

Just because the Law forgives you (in some ways) doesn't mean your victims have to forgive you.
Sadly it appears Societ has moved from a state of personal responsibility into personal liability. And so people seem to think:
If I'm not legally liable.... my harm (such as lieing) shouldn't be counted against me.
Prime example: Ortiz (prosecutor) and Dunn (HP Executive)! My paraphrase:
Everyone is doing it, what's the problem?
No personal recognition of responsibility.
