It merely provided a place for those who wish to be destructive to do so
while being under the illusion of invisibility.
While you were growing up
in school, how many kids do you know of deliberately said mean things to someone
they thought was "weird" or "strange" or "different" or they simply didn't like
just "because"?
Bullying! Verbal bullying, but bullying none the
less.
And Society taught the bullies that it's ok.... because
no one
likes a tattletale so you, the victim, will be punished as well
and
no,
you're not allowed to defend yourself... you're just as bad as the person who
attacked you because you defended yourself
Meanwhile.... the victim is
sitting there surrounded by both other kids and adults, speaking up that the kid
verbally bullying them needs to stop while the adults do nothing to assert any
kind of authority.
A society that teaches - via behavioral patterns -
that abuse is ok or that defending yourself against abuse is equally wrong, even
if it's merely verbal, is not as decent as we would like to believe.
