"Ortiz herself has thus far declined to comment out of
respect for the privacy of the Swartz family." --Huffington

If so, then the decision wouldn't have
been Ms. Ortiz's.[ Reply to This | Parent | # ]

The petition on the whitehouse.gov site hit 25,000 signees. Hopefully the
Administration will consider the message it delivers carefully.
As an aside, one news organization speculated that Ortiz had been
considering a run for Governor, and that this case had killed her chances.
While she wasn't directly responsible, her employee was.
The buck stops on her desk.

Although his indictment on 13 felony counts was announced by U.S.
Atty. Carmen M. Ortiz in Massachusetts, accounts from Swartz’s supporters say
much of the behind- the-scenes negotiations were handled by Assistant U.S. Atty.
Stephen P. Heymann.
There's a
petition for that
too.
