The linked article is idiotic.

The abc article reffered to at the link is specifically about event tickets with
barcodes posted on social media can be used by someone else to create a
counterfit ticket and get into that event while the legitimate ticket holder
get's shut out.

There is no risk in posting a picture of the bar code off of a can of beans.

This is a very specific problem. The linked artiticle throws in a gratuitous
comment that all email is public when the original ABC article contains nothing
about email being involved in the problem.
