One thing that I have come to count on is your consistent prejudice against
religion. I now know that it is not only Christianity that you hate, but
religion of any kind.
}

I have a prejudice for reality, something that you won't find in religion. I
also have a prejudice against all the stupidity and violence committed in
"God's" name.

As for the problems in India, some of them, such as the caste system, are rooted
in religion. Another example of such nonsense is a recent law passed in
Indonesia requiring women to ride side saddle on motorcycles which, as anyone
who's ridden a motorcycle knows, is dangerous.

It does no good

As I paraphrase William James, a religious experience is
utterly compelling to those who experience it and utterly
meaningless to those who do not.

Mt 10:14, dude.

The article, to which I drew attention in another subthread, does not state
there are more rapes in the Western World, it says more REPORTED rapes, this is
a very very big difference.

The number of reported rapes in the West has risen significantly during my
lifetime, however no-one who has seriously looked at the problem believes the
number of rapes has risen, but the stigma associated with reporting a rape has
reduced, and the attitude of the police and other authorities towards the
victims has improved, it still has a long way to go, but the improvements are
real. India is a long way behind on this curve.

You are looking at _reported_ rapes.

In a society where the victim is going to be punished, and the perp walk free,
there is _no_ benefit in reporting the rape. Something that is as true in
India,
as it is the United States.
