Latest WHO
figures for 2009 show 750,000 physicians,
which looks a bit lower than
a
Washington Post
report .

My home country Sweden, by comparison, has just over
5,000 certified lawyers, in a population just shy of
10 million. That's about one lawyer per 2,000 citizens.
For comparison, we have about 50,000 certified physicians
(1 in 200), roughly 150,000 people with an academic degree
in engineering (1 in 65) and around 150,000 teachers
in primary schools and high schools (1 in 65).
For all I know, Sweden may be an exception, so it
would be interesting to hear some statistics from
other countries. Anyone?
