I agree that a touch screen works well for more of what I'd call a casual
interface with the computer.
Myself I have both sit down and stand up "Desktop" situations.
I use fairly large screens at both, the screens are situated a couple of feet or
so from my face.
To interact with a touch screen, I would have to lean forward just to reach it.
Sure I could move it closer but that would be far from optimal for working.
IMHO touch screens are best suited both in function and price when they are
smaller and interaction is limited to a bit of screen poking.
Anything more and a keyboard, mouse, touchpad make more sense even if they have
to slide out on a drawer.

I watched one of those money-eating touchscreen games at a
local establishment boot up.
It was running Linux.
BTW, the reason it was booting up was I had unplugged it
while sitting next to it.
Any time I see a POS (point of sale) device that locks up
and
