An excessive preoccupation with tyrants and using that as a pretext for gun
ownership is logical leapfrogging and, frankly, points to a low level of
confidence in the US Constitution and it's mechanisms of checks and balances.

It can be (and is) argued that the level of democratic control is slipping but
that does not entail tyranny in the sense of absolute and arbitrary rule - the
kind gun ownership is supposed to guard against.

The way to ensure a democratic rule of, by, and for the People, is for the said
People to actively participate in and show respect for the democratic process,
not to insist on their freedom gun in hand.
